I keep a list in my notebook titled “Everything I would otherwise Google”.
The idea is simple, instead of actually Googling whatever question or thought enters my mind, I write it down instead.
The hope is that by putting an extra step between the thought and action, it will discourage me from spending too much time on my phone. Because once I start Googling, it’s a slippery slope.
And you know what? It’s working. I have a huge list of useless questions I didn’t need to Google, but felt like I did in the moment.
I’ll occasionally review the list and after a second thought, research anything important while I’m on my computer.
I hate the amount of attention my phone demands, so this is one method to combat that.
